SEALINE 23 water in floor location near Heads

In certain Sealine 23 models there are incidents of freshwater leaks around the heads location that seep onto the main cabin floor. More so, when it is being used when underway where it is more exaggerated and water is being used. The key suspect area is the feed to the shower head in the head’s compartment when the water pump is switched on. The piping sits behind the handbasin.

It is caused by the plastic push-fit connections unbonding and sometimes splitting.

The resolution is a daunting one but also a doable one. That is, cut out the sealant around the panel to remove the panel to gain access to the fitting. Either fit a suspect O ring or replace the T - connector completely.

This can be a repeatable problem on the Sealine 23. Especially in winter time when water freezes in the mixer which in turn can split the fittings.

The test is when you hear water when the tap is on but the shower head is off. Another test is by turning the tap on and off again, wait a few minutes and see if there is any pressure left in the shower hose. It is likely you should get a quick jet of water.

A way to gain access the issue would be to remove the sealant around the sink that holds it in place. But with careful preparation, patience, gentleness, and dexterity and a sharp blade fed horizontally under the edge of the sink one can lever the sink upwards to gain access. Once at the pipework underneath the connections can be checked and changed. Tom’s Tip: Don’t pull the sink out too far! Replacement components can be found online.

So, to conclude you are looking for a plastic T piece that connects the two taps. These split over time due to the cold weather. One can get a replacement brass T Piece from Seabridge Marine. Once fitted it should cure the leak problem.

Another Tom’s tip: Consider lagging the pipework whilst you do this job.

Apply the skill, and achieve the desired outcome!
